The Shanghai Xinhua Media Book Distribution Center is a large-scale automated distribution center for China's book retail industry. The center integrates textbooks, general books, audio-visual products, and educational supplies, making it the most comprehensive distribution facility of its kind in China.

The four-story main building covers a total area of 30,000 square meters and is designed with dedicated systems for textbooks, books, audio-visual products, educational supplies, and returns processing.

The returns processing system features an innovative two-step sorting method, which differs from traditional automated sorting method. This approach has significantly improved efficiency and reduced costs in handling returned books.

Additionally, the center pioneered the use of weighing-based verification for book sorting—a first in China—greatly enhancing distribution accuracy and efficiency.

By integrating multiple innovative design concepts and technologies, the facility has achieved streamlined workflows, substantial efficiency gains, and a high return on investment. As a result, it has become a benchmark for domestically designed book distribution systems in China.
